Joseph H. McKowan, beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 11, 2016 at his home in Manitou Springs, Colorado. He was born in Buffalo, New York on April 19, 1939, the first of eight children born to the late Joseph and Julia McKowan.

Joseph graduated under full academic scholarship from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, a Catholic college-preparatory high school, in 1957. He also studied business at State University of New York at Buffalo. Joseph was a military veteran and served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. He set a standard for all five of his sons to serve in the military as well. He spent his early work career as a manager of Acme supermarkets and worked the remainder of his career as a salesman in the cemetery and furniture industries.

The most important thing in Joseph's life was raising his family and seeing his sons grow to be fulfilled, productive citizens of our great nation. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies were cars and stereoscopic photography and movies. He owned many beautiful Cadillacs and other special cars over the years, as well as his prized 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10 that won best sports car at the Pueblo, Colorado Riverwalk car show.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, loving children Kelly (Veronica) of San Antonio Texas, William (Cynthia) of Great Falls Montana, Jeremy (Angelique) of Cortland Ohio, Joel (Julie) of Menominee Michigan, and Jesse of Howland Ohio, as well grandchildren.
